Mount Edith Cavell is 30km (18mi) south of Jasper. Few summits in the park can match the craggy beauty of Edith Cavell. Angel Glacier and meltwater lake can be easily reached by a short self guided trail that winds its way along the shores of the lake.
Athabasca Falls is 32 km (14.2mi) south of the Jasper townsite. Among the most powerful and breathtaking falls in the rocky mountains. PLEASE READ THE WARNING SIGNS AND DO NOT CLIMB OVER THE GUARD RAILS, THEY ARE THERE FOR YOUR SAFETY!
Goat lookout is 38 km (22.8mi) south of the Jasper townsite. You will get a panoramic view of the Athabasca Valley .This is good place to see mountain goats, bighorn sheep,and other animals. PLEASE REMEMBER, IT IS ILLEGAL AND UNLAWFUL TO FEED OR TOUCH WILDLIFE IN A NATIONAL PARK, IT'S FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE WELL BEING OF THE ANIMALS.
Sunwapta Falls is 55 km (33mi) south of the Jasper townsite. Sunwapta river abruptly changes course from northwest to southwest and plunges in a cloud of spray into a deep canyon.
Columbia Icefield Glacier is 105km (63mi) south of Jasper townsite. The largest icefield south of Alaska, shimmering glacial ice and snow cover some 389sq.km ( 233sq.mi ). Glacial tours are available.
Lac Beauvert is located 7 km ( 4.2mi) from Jasper and is home to the world famous The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, with it's scenic and challenging golf course. WATCH FOR ROAMING ELK AND CANADA GEESE, PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THEM, FOR YOUR SAFTY AND THEIRS!
Miette Hotsprings located 60km (36mi) to the east of Jasper offers the hottest natural springs in the Rockies. The springs are cooled from 54C (129F) to a soothing 39C (102F). Swimsuits and towels are available to rent. Watch for roaming wildlife. Hiking trails in the area.
Medicine Lake, 32km (19.2mi) southeast of Jasper, is an intriguing place of mystery and Indian legend. Due to an underground drainage system, the water level varies from season to season and even sometimes dissappears. Watch for falling rock and sudden vehicle stops along this narrow and winding road. WATCH FOR WILDLIFE, STAY BACK AND STAY SAFE.
Maligne Lake 48km (28.8mi) southeast of Jasper is located in the breath taking Maligne Valley. The exquisite lake is the second largest glacial fed lake in the world, stretching some 22km (14mi). Maligne Lake Tours offer a one-and-a-half hour interperetive boat tour that takes you past glacier-studded mountain peaks, to the world famous Spirit Island. Well worth the drive.
Maligne Canyon, 11km (6.6mi) south east of Jasper, is one of the most spectactular gorges in the rockies, limestone walls plummet to depths of over 50 meters (165 feet) to the mossy canyon below. Please stay within marked pathways. Hiking trails are marked.
Jasper Tramway at Whistler's Mountain is located 8km (4.8mi) from the Jasper townsite. The tram whisks you up the mountain to an elevation of 2285 meters (7496 feet) for a stunning view of the valley below. The unique J shape of the townsite can be clearly seen from the summit. Mount Robson, Canada's highest peak can be seen on a clear day.
Mount Robson Provincial Park, is the second oldest park in British Columbia and is located a scenic 1 hour drive west on the highway to Valemont. At 3954 meters (13048 ft ), Mount Robson, the highest peak in the rockies, towers over the surrounding peaks, making it the most magnificent view in the rockies.
